The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, which have caused quite a stir in the tech community with their ‘Infinity Display’ and dual curved bezel-less design, are launching in India on April 19.
This information comes via a tweet from Samsung Mobile India’s official twitter page. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ have already been received very warmly in the US and South Korea where pre-order went live last week.
Samsung itself revealed a few days ago that the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are proving to be much more popular than last year’s Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. Within a few weeks of the pre-orders going live, Samsung witnessed a “double-digit growth” over Samsung’s Galaxy S7.
In fact, pre-orders for the S8 and S8+ have surpassed all records in Samsung’s home country of South Korea with more than 550,00 units of the smartphones getting booked within two days.
The Galaxy S8 and S8+ are powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor in the U.S and Samsung’s own 3GHz Exynos 8895 processor in other regions including India.
Additionally, they come with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage expandable via a microSD card (up to 256GB) and a 12MP ‘Dual Pixel’ camera at the rear with an aperture of f/1.7 and laser auto-focus alongside an 8MP front facing camera with an aperture of f/1.7.
The difference between the two lies in the screen size and battery. The Galaxy S8 comes with a 3,000mAh battery and a WQHD+ 5.8-inch display and the Galaxy S8+ comes with a WQHD+ 6.2-inch display and a bigger 3,500mAh battery. Both smartphones feature fast charging and wireless charging.
Both smartphones also come with Samsung Knox, IP68 dust and water resistance, Samsung Pay, earphones tuned by AKG and 4G LTE support.
